I wanted to make a card for Mother's Day that was a bit untraditional, and as I was digging through my stamp collection, I found this cute saying and thought it would be a perfect sentiment for the card. I also found a sketch (see image below) on the Die Cuttin Divas challenge blog and thought it would make an excellent layout. I started by cutting the crown using my Cricut and the Create A Critter cartridge. Next I cut out the modified scallop edge using the Elegant Edges cartridge. Then I added some bling to the crown, because no crown is complete with out some rhinestones. I stamped the sentiment using Versa Mark ink and my purple Perfect Pearls powder. I used to use Perfect Pearls all the time and found this buried in my scrap room drawer. Next I outlined the scallop using a purple glaze pen, which I think added something to the card. All that was left to do was put it all together. I put attached the crown using foam tape. I think the card is really cute and will be perfect for Mother's Day or as a thank you card. I don't think it is a new stap set, but it's new to me :) It has a couple of monkeys and some vines, and these cute "monkey" sayings. I really fell in love with the "I'm bananas about you!" saying and wanted to use it to make a card. I thought it would be cute as a Valentines card or just to tell someone that you care.
I started by cutting two bananas using my cricut Create A Critter cartridge and used chalk to give them some shading. I also cut the shadow out in brown so that it would pop off the green pattern paper I wanted to use for the background. Next I stamped the saying on a cream color paper and used a circle punch to cut it into a circle. Then I just put it all together. I used some foam tape to pop up one of the bananas to add a little 3D effect :) Materials Used: Paper: Mostely scraps from my stash, Recollections cardstock Cricut: Create A Critter Stamp: Stampendous Changito Dos Ink: Stampin Up - Chocolate Chip Challenges Entered: The Cricut Chirp - Sweet Valentine Paper Playtime - Use Brown Pause Dream Enjoy - Desserts Cut It Up - In with the new Like what you see, visit my Etsy Store
Blog Update - January 21, 2013: I am super excited to say that my cute little puppy love card won the Pets challenge (Challenge #1 for 2013) at Paper Playtime. One of our neighbors, just welcomed their second grandbaby, and we were super excited for them. I made this super cute, dinosaur onsie card to give to them. It was pretty easy to make. I cut the onsie from the B is for Boy cartridge, and the baby dinosaur from Create A Critter. I put the dinosaur on a layer of foam tape so it would pop off the page. The title was from an old DCWV sticker stack that I haven't seen since my son was born 5 years ago. Dallas was very proud of himself, because I let him sign the card on the inside all by himself. He is very independent these days.

I really, really love my create a critter cartridge, and decided to cut out this cute little penquin and igloo. I found a bunch of blue and white paper scraps to make into the "snow hills", and layered them on the card. I also inked the edges of all the papers so they stood out from each other a bit better. Then I decided that the penquin and igloo needed something, so I started looking in my glitter stash and found some old mini marbles by beadies. I used to use these all the time, but don't think they have been touched in a couple of years. I used 3D Crystal Lacquer by Sakuracraft to attach them to the igloo and the penquin's scarf. I love how it made the igloo look like ice.
